He Will Sustain You
I have been studying the book of Hebrews for awhile now, and I have reached the fifth chapter and verse 7 talks about Christ's actions when He knew He was heading for the cross.
I don't want to miss the fact that we cry out to the God who has the power to work on our behalf. Heb. 5:7 says that Christ cried out to "Him who was able to save Him".
Hebrews 5:7,"who, in the days of His flesh, when He had offered up prayers and supplications, with vehement cries and tears, to Him who was able to save Him from death, and was heard because of His godly fear.."The thing that has encouraged me this week is Christ's example of crying out to God in His distress. I need a daily reminder to turn to God in my own struggles. Many times my response is to feel stressed or get upset, and yet I have a powerful God that I can turn to. A verse that has been particularly encouraging is
Ps. 55:22, "Cast your burden on the LORD, and He will sustain you; He will not permit the righteous to be moved."Praise God that I can cast my burdens on Him! Whatever our burdens may be that we carry, we can cast on Him, and He will sustain us.
I don't want to miss the fact that we cry out to the God who has the power to work on our behalf. Heb. 5:7 says that Christ cried out to "Him who was able to save Him".
So, today instead of trying to fight in my own strength as I face my own uncertainties, struggles, and sin, my prayer is that I will follow Christ's example and cry out to God who will sustain me and give me strength to be obedient to Him in my responses to my different struggles."Well may the saint trust such a God! He is worthy of implicit confidence. Nothing is too hard for Him. If God were stinted in might and had a limit to His strength we might well despair. But seeing that He is clothed with omnipotence, no prayer is too hard for Him to answer, no need too great for Him to supply, no passion too strong for Him to subdue; no temptation too powerful for Him to deliver from, no misery too deep for Him to relieve." Ephesians 1:17-20,"That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what if the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of is mighty power which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places."
