Psalm 25-Prayer for a Beloved Friend:Supplication through the Scriptures, pt.1

Psalm 25

Praying for a Beloved Friend, pt.1

Walking with a friend in the dark, is better than walking alone in the light.
Helen Keller

Friendship is a beautiful gift from God. I am thankful that He has blessed me abundantly with sweet friends throughout my life. True friends will speak truth, give comfort, be faithful, and encourage one another and much more. Friendship in Christ is even sweeter as we have the joy of being family, who all share the same Father. A wonderful privilege we have toward our sister-friends is to come before our Heavenly Father on their behalf. Today, let’s come before the throne of grace and seek our Father’s help for a friend.

Lifting the Soul to God

25:1-3 To you, O Lord, I lift up my soul. O my God, in you I trust; let me not be put to shame; let not my enemies exult over me. Indeed, none who wait for you shall be put to shame; they shall be ashamed who are wantonly treacherous.
Heavenly Father, I pray:
▫️My dear friend would lift her soul to You, and You would make her soul glad (Psalm 86:4).
▫️Her eyes would look to You to sustain and carry her burdens today.
▫️She would feel safe and secure because she trusts in You and she is confident that she can rely on You to bear her up in Your loving arms.
▫️She would not carry shame that is not hers to bear.
▫️There would be no occasion for her enemies, namely the Enemy, to rejoice or be gloating in her hardships.
▫️She would hold fast to the promise that none who wait for You shall be put to shame.
▫️She would “Wait for the Lord; be strong and let your heart take courage; Yes, wait for the Lord” (Psalm 27:14).
▫️You would give her new strength, mounting up with wings like eagles, to run without tiredness, and to walk without weariness while she waits for You (Isaiah 40:31).

Remember Me

24:4-7 Make me to know your ways, O Lord; teach me your paths. Lead me in your truth and teach me, for you are the God of my salvation; for you I wait all the day long. Remember your mercy, O Lord, and your steadfast love, for they have been from of old. Remember not the sins of my youth or my transgressions; according to your steadfast love remember me, for the sake of your goodness, O Lord!
Gracious Father, I pray:
▫️Help my friend to be able to discern and know Your ways. As she rises today she would seek Your wisdom for the things that concern her and You would give it generously.
▫️Grant her a teachable spirit that she would learn what You have for her to understand and to grow in Christlikeness.
▫️You would strengthen and enable her to walk with an eternal perspective as she follows Your leading.
▫️Your truth would be her guide, comfort, wisdom, assurance, hope, and anchor.
▫️You would be the God of her salvation and deliverance in her times of trouble.
▫️She would trust You with the longings of her heart, even when the waiting seems long.
▫️You would remember my friend, see her affliction, hear her cries, and remember Your mercy and steadfast love to her as Your child and act on behalf of my friend.
▫️As far as the east is from the west, so far have You removed her transgressions from her (Psalm 103:12) because she is in Christ.
▫️Do all this for the sake of Your goodness.

His Paths are Steadfast Love and Faithfulness

25:8-10 Good and upright is the Lord; therefore he instructs sinners in the way. He leads the humble in what is right, and teaches the humble his way. All the paths of the Lord are steadfast love and faithfulness, for those who keep his covenant and his testimonies.
Sovereign Father, I pray:
▫️She would know in her innermost being that You are good and upright and that all You do is good, and You uphold what is just and right.
▫️She would continue to read Your Word, hear it preached and taught, and day by day submit her will to Your will and way.
▫️She would be clothed with humility.
▫️She would have a teachable spirit and an eagerness to do Your will, O God, as You lead her in what is right.
▫️All the paths You lead her on would be a demonstration of Your steadfast love and faithfulness to her.
▫️Hold her fast, Lord.

May the Lord do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, for His glory and our good. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Sharing a common life together is not about doing activities but about sharing life. Spiritual life. It is about working together to bring about God’s Kingdom purposes. It is about serving together, helping each other through trials, lifting each other up when we fall, praying for one another, urging one another on in the faith. And ultimately, it is reflecting Christ in our love for one another, imaging Him to the fallen world around us.
